Ouahigouya: The Innovation Platform for Bulb Onion and Dried Bulb Onion Value Chains in the Northern Region organized the premier edition of the promotional days for the onion sector from April 23 to 25 in Ouahigouya, as reported by AIB. The event was held at the Ouahigouya market gardening platform, serving as a venue for producers in the northern onion sector to display their production capabilities and expertise.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event was themed "Onion Sector Production in a Context of Insecurity: Challenges and Prospects." It featured several key activities such as the exhibition and sale of onion products, a panel discussion on agroecological onion production, and sessions on onion conservation techniques and governance of farmers' organizations. The activity received support from the Burkina Faso Food System Resilience Program and saw significant participation from northern administrative authorities and other stakeholders in the sector.
Stakeholders and partners expressed their appreciation for the initiative and showed a strong commitment to supporting the sector's activities. Plans are already underway for the second edition, scheduled for 2026.
