Ouagadougou: The Minister of National Education, Literacy and the Promotion of National Languages, Jacques Sosth¨ne Dingara, launched the 2025 session of the certification assessment of literacy learners throughout the national territory in Ouagadougou on Monday.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the certification assessment of literacy learners, traditionally organized at the local level, is now becoming a national examination comparable to the primary school certificate and the 6th grade entrance exam. Around 38,000 candidates are participating in this session, with 75% of them being women. The candidates come from various backgrounds, including business people, graduates, and administrative executives.
The Minister responsible for the promotion of national languages, Jacques Sosth¨ne Dingara, stated that this initiative aims to promote national languages and enable participants to read, speak, and write in their mother tongue. He also encouraged civil servants and other societal groups to enroll in the literacy course, emphasizing that his department is considering a program to help civil servants learn to read and write in their native languages.
Mr. Dingara assured that in the years to come, the diplomas obtained from these training courses will allow holders to secure employment and make a living from their qualifications.
