Saaba – Faculty representatives from the municipal high schools of Saaba and Nioko I have raised concerns about organizational issues with the Brevet d’études du premier cycle (BEPC) in the central region. During a press conference on Friday, the delegates detailed multiple irregularities that they believe are undermining the integrity of the examination process.
According to Burkina Information Agency, spokesperson for the staff of the Saaba and Nioko I high schools, the issues began when the responsibility for organizing the BEPC was transferred to the provincial directorate of post-primary and secondary education in Kadiogo. Daboné highlighted several problems, including the delayed distribution of official invitations to participate in the examination process and unclear criteria for the selection of examination staff. He noted that some staff members were contacted late at night by unidentified individuals, raising concerns about the transparency and security of the process.
Daboné also pointed out that the number of staff involved in the examination is insufficient for the tasks required. “At Nioko I high school, for instance, only the English teachers were summoned. At the Saaba municipal high school, no roles for correctors or secretaries were assigned, and the school’s name was even omitted from the list of selected establishments,” explained Daboné.
The spokesperson criticized the authorities’ reliance on software, which he claimed is being used as an excuse for all the observed malfunctions. Despite these challenges, Daboné remains optimistic about the possibility of rectifying these issues. He has called on Jacques Sosthène Dingara, the Minister in charge of National Education, to take immediate action to address the concerns raised and ensure the fair conduct of the BEPC in the region.
