Ouagadougou: The Regional Directorate of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism launched a consultation framework with the private press on Friday in Ouagadougou. The objective was to present private media companies with financing opportunities and mechanisms to strengthen their development.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the regional director, No«lli Octavia Neya/Ou©draogo, explained that this meeting aimed to allow private press players to better understand the financial support possibilities available to support the growth of their structures. In particular, she highlighted the Private Press Support Fund (FAPP), a system that offers financial support intended to help media companies achieve their objectives.
FAPP's Director of Legal Affairs and Litigation, Sibid© G©offroy Leman, presented the fund's products, which include grants without financial compensation and loans at an interest rate of 4%. He also mentioned international partners such as the European Union, the World Bank, and the UNDP, which provide logistical and financial support to the private press.
Mr. Leman further urged journalists to strengthen their skills, particularly in business management, to ensure the viability and sustainability of their media outlets.
