Addis Ababa: Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed recognized loyal taxpayers during a national ceremony held tonight, emphasizing the importance of fulfilling civic duties. In a message shared on social media, Abiy congratulated the awardees of the 6th Annual Loyal Taxpayers Recognition Ceremony, praising their commitment to supporting the country’s progress through tax contributions.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, paying taxes is a reflection of trust and responsibility. He stressed that fulfilling this duty is essential for the collective good and that the government will honor this trust by investing tax revenue wisely in key national projects, such as the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD). Abiy also highlighted the need for continued improvement in tax collection and emphasized the importance of reducing corruption and modernizing the tax system to create a more transparent and efficient process.
The Prime Minister encouraged taxpayers to maintain their efforts, noting that progress in tax collection is crucial to Ethiopia’s development.
