MOSCOW: Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has extended an invitation to investors from BRICS nations to explore and capitalize on the investment opportunities available in Ethiopia, during his video address at the BRICS Business Forum in Moscow. The Prime Minister emphasized the potential in sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture, renewable energy, mining, information and communication technology, and tourism.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, Prime Minister Abiy highlighted the strategic advantages of investing in Ethiopia, which serves as a gateway to the African continent. He expressed that such investments would not only benefit the BRICS countries but also contribute to shared developmental objectives. The Prime Minister reiterated Ethiopia’s commitment to the 2025 strategy for BRICS economic partnership, which aims to promote sustainable development across economic, social, and environmental dimensions.
Abiy also underscored the alignment of this strategy with Ethiopia’s own development goals, focusing
on industrialization, food security, and environmental resilience. He pointed out the ongoing challenges faced by the global economy, such as growing inequality, rising prices, and unemployment, and stressed the importance of collaboration among the BRICS business community to develop strategies that address these issues.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed Ethiopia’s readiness to contribute to collaborative efforts aimed at mitigating economic challenges and urged BRICS member countries to approach these opportunities with unity, determination, and a shared sense of purpose. He concluded by expressing optimism about the potential for remarkable progress and a future characterized by shared prosperity, sustainable development, and economic resilience among BRICS nations.
