ADDIS ABABA – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed reaffirmed that Ethiopia’s sovereignty will continue to be defended by the collective efforts of its people. As the nation commemorates Pagume 3 (September 8, 2024) as Sovereignty Day, Abiy highlighted the importance of sovereignty in ensuring the country’s prosperity.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, Ethiopia has a long history of honor, excellence, and freedom, and has consistently defended itself from external threats to its sovereignty. He further explained that sovereignty extends beyond national borders to include key pillars such as food security, technology, and budget independence. Abiy called for a renewed sense of national patriotism to ensure the protection of these vital sectors.
