Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Affirms Ethiopia Will Not Compromise on Sovereignty


ADDIS ABABA – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed declared that Ethiopia will never negotiate on its sovereignty and honor, during an event marking Sovereignty Day held under the theme “National Harmony to Ensuring Sovereignty in All Spheres.” Abiy emphasized that Ethiopia’s identity is intrinsically tied to freedom, dignity, and resilience.



According to Ethiopian News Agency, Ethiopia has never initiated aggression against other countries but has consistently defended itself from foreign invasions throughout its history. He reiterated that Ethiopia would respond decisively to any threats against its sovereignty, while remaining committed to peace, both within Africa and globally.



Abiy also highlighted Ethiopia’s contribution to regional peace and development, stating that the country’s defense forces are dedicated not only to maintaining Ethiopia’s security but also to supporting the stability of neighboring nations. He called on all Ethiopians to work hard in their respective fields to contribute to the nation’s prosperity, reinforcing that Ethiopia’s defense forces play a vital role in safeguarding both peace and development.
