Priest Encourages Christians to Deepen Faith at Annual Pilgrimage in Songo

Nahouri: Father Beno®t Sawadogo, parish priest of Our Lady of Fatima in P´, presided over the annual pilgrimage mass this Sunday, January 18, 2026, in the village of Songo, located a short distance from the town of P´. He urged the Christians to cultivate their faith and seek to deepen their understanding of it.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the pilgrimage took place under the theme 'Rooted in Christ, let us walk together in hope,' drawing thousands of Catholic faithful from Our Lady of Fatima Parish in P´ to the sanctuary in Songo. The event featured songs, prayers, adoration, and blessings, marking it as a significant occasion for the Catholic community.

Father Beno®t Sawadogo emphasized the importance of the pilgrimage as not only a spiritual devotion but also as a symbol of unity among the parishioners. In his homily, he encouraged Christians to expand their understanding of faith beyond catechism knowledge, advocating for religious tolerance and a peaceful society through deeper faith cultivation.

The gathering also highlighted the vitality of faith within the P´ parish, fostering stronger bonds of fraternity and cohesion among Christians and other religious groups in Nahouri. The traditional authorities of Songo, led by the traditional chief, participated in the prayer service, joining the Catholic community in prayers for peace and security in Burkina Faso.
