President Traoré Pays Tribute to the Martyrs of 2014 and 2015: Calls for Renewed Determination in Burkina Faso

Ouagadougou, On Tuesday, in a heartfelt message shared on his Twitter account, President of the Transition, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, commemorated the 9th anniversary of the popular uprising of 2014 and the 8th anniversary of the failed coup d’état of 2015. He expressed his hope that the sacrifices made by the martyrs during these tumultuous times would continue to inspire determination for the liberation of Burkina Faso.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this day of remembrance serves as a significant moment to honor and acknowledge the sacrifices made by the martyrs. “Today, October 31, I bow to the memory of our martyrs for whom this day is established in homage and recognition of their sacrifice,” he stated. The president emphasized that the bloodshed by the nation’s sons and daughters has fortified the country’s collective commitment to freedom, sovereignty, peace, and the development of all Burkinabè.

In his heartfelt message, Captain Traoré extended his thoughts to the families of the martyrs, expressing his wishes for a swift recovery to those still grappling with the physical and emotional scars of the events. “May their supreme sacrifice fuel our determination for the liberation of our dear homeland!” he exclaimed.

On Tuesday morning, Captain Traoré led the commemorative ceremony honoring the popular insurrection and the failed coup d’état. The ceremony included a moment of remembrance, during which the president laid a wreath of flowers at the Monument to National Heroes in the Ouaga 2000 district, paying his respects to the martyrs.
