Ouagadougou: The meeting between President Ibrahim Traoré and Burkina Faso’s national football team, the Stallions, following their recent participation in the CAN 2025 qualifiers, has become a focal point in local media. The President’s engagement with the team comes after their defeats against Senegal and Malawi, and as they prepare for future challenges.

According to Burkina Information Agency, President Traoré met with Issoufou Dayo and his teammates, providing a morale boost and urging them to give their best for the nation’s happiness. During the meeting, he emphasized the importance of reorganizing the team for future victories, which serve as motivation for those fighting to reclaim national territory. The state daily, Sidwaya, highlighted the President’s call for the Stallions to be more daring and committed.

The dean of private dailies, L’Observateur Paalga, reported that President Traoré commented on the match against Senegal, noting the lack of a leader on the field to unify and drive the team’s
energies. Meanwhile, the private daily Le Pays noted the President’s encouragement for the team to thoroughly prepare for the CAN 2025 to meet the expectations of the Burkinabe people.

In another sporting achievement, Sidwaya celebrated the success of the Ladies Cycling Stallions, who were warmly received after their victory in the international tour of Burundi. A high-level delegation welcomed Lamoussa Zougrana and her team at Ouagadougou’s international airport, acknowledging their impressive performance. As reported by L’Express du Faso, the cyclists, including Awa Bamogo, Adèle Wongo, and Guissou Pasaline Dambinga, surpassed expectations with the best time of 3 minutes and 56 seconds.
