ADDIS ABABA: President Taye Atske Silassie engaged in discussions with United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres, focusing on regional cooperation and multilateralism. The meeting, held in Addis Ababa on Monday, aimed to bolster the partnership between Ethiopia and the UN while addressing pressing issues of peace and security in the region.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, the dialogue between President Taye and Secretary General Guterres emphasized the importance of enhancing multilateral efforts to tackle regional challenges. Both leaders expressed their commitment to advancing collaborative measures within the framework of the United Nations.

In a subsequent social media post, President Taye conveyed his appreciation to Guterres for his effective leadership, particularly highlighting the successful conclusion of the 79th UN General Assembly in New York. The meeting underscored Ethiopia’s role in regional peace efforts and the importance of international cooperation.

The talks also recalled th
e recent event where Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, alongside Secretary General Guterres, inaugurated the African Hall. This landmark symbolizes liberation and represents Pan-African unity, reflecting the shared aspirations for peace and development across the continent.
