President Taye Celebrates Ethiopian Flag Day, Emphasizes National Unity and Patriotism

ADDIS ABABA—During the 17th annual celebration of Ethiopia’s national flag day, President Taye Atske-Selassie lauded the flag as a symbol of the country’s enduring unity and the deep-seated patriotism that has propelled the nation’s sovereignty throughout its history.



According to Ethiopian News Agency, the event took place at the House of People’s Representatives with notable figures including HPR House Speaker Tagesse Chafo and other high-ranking officials in attendance. President Taye underscored the flag’s significance as a beacon of unity, forged through the valor and sacrifices of Ethiopia’s forefathers. He highlighted the historical struggles against foreign adversaries under the national emblem, which have bolstered Ethiopia’s pride and independence.



The president also stressed the flag’s role in the legacy of heroism and sacrifice that has defined successive Ethiopian generations, advocating for freedom, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. With a nod to Ethiopia’s influential role in the African continent’s wider fight for independence, President Taye called upon the current generation to strive relentlessly towards fostering a more prosperous and resilient nation.
