President Sahlework Urges New Ambassadors to Safeguard National Interest


ADDIS ABABA — President Sahlework Zewde urged the newly appointed 24 ambassadors to work diligently and maintain Ethiopia’s national interest.



According to Ethiopian News Agency, the newly appointed ambassadors, ten of whom are plenipotentiary, have undergone three weeks of training on various issues. During the occasion, the President emphasized the importance of the ambassadors using all their potential to ensure Ethiopia’s national interest. She highlighted that this appointment is unique from previous ones as all the appointees are career diplomats, demonstrating the government’s commitment to prioritizing professionalism.



Foreign Affairs Minister Ambassador Taye Atske Selassie also commended the government’s decision to appoint all ambassadors from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He emphasized that the new ambassadors should discharge their responsibility in ensuring the country’s national interest. The Minister stressed Ethiopia’s readiness to cooperate with any country based on mutual trust, respect, and benefit. Taye pointed out that the ambassadors should promote Ethiopia’s desire and efforts towards regional integration.
