President of Burkina Faso Wishes National Team Success in Africa Cup of Nations

Ouagadougou: In his New Year's address broadcast on national television, the President of Burkina Faso, Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traore, extended his best wishes to the Stallions of Burkina Faso for success in their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations tournament set to take place in Morocco. The President's message was one of encouragement not just to the Stallions, but also to all teams representing Burkina Faso on international platforms.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the President expressed his hope for a victorious outcome for the Stallions, stating, "We wish all our teams, and especially the Stallions, every success for 2026. They are currently representing their country. We wish them every success until they achieve victory." The Stallions recently triumphed over the Crocodiles of Sudan on December 31, 2025, securing their second-place position in Group E. Their next challenge will be against the Elephants of Ivory Coast in the Round of 16 scheduled for January 6.

Captain Traore also used the address as an opportunity to announce initiatives aimed at promoting sports within the nation. He highlighted ongoing significant investments in the sports sector facilitated by the National Office for Major Projects and relevant ministries throughout 2025. A new stadium is under construction in Bobo-Dioulasso and is expected to be completed by early 2026. "In all regions, we plan to create spaces to allow young people, firstly, to practice sport in order to stay healthy and avoid idleness," he stated.

Emphasizing the broader impacts of sports, the President remarked that these initiatives contribute to the physical and mental well-being of the youth, enhancing their productivity. He affirmed the country's commitment to developing various sports disciplines that could thrive in Burkina Faso, with the aim of strengthening social cohesion.
