Ouagadougou: In a New Year’s address to the nation, the President of Faso commended the country’s military forces for their resilience and success in counterterrorism operations throughout 2024.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the President highlighted the National Armed Forces’ ability to counteract the strategies of armed terrorist factions. In his speech delivered on December 31, 2024, the President acknowledged the sacrifices and bravery of these forces in safeguarding the national territory. “I pay a vibrant tribute to all our fighting forces who fight day and night, to the supreme sacrifice, so that our Homeland remains and continues,” stated the Head of State.
Captain Ibrahim Traor© expressed condolences for soldiers who lost their lives and wished for the recovery of those injured in combat. “I wish a speedy recovery to all those who were wounded in this barbarity and pray to God for the repose of the souls of all those who fell in this battle,” he said.
The President also acknowledged the contributions of the Burkinabe people in supporting the military efforts. “I would also like to pay tribute to the valiant Burkinabe people, both inside and outside, who continue to contribute massively so that we can wage this war and also begin our real development,” he stated.
Furthermore, the President reported that over 166 billion CFA francs had been mobilized by December 22, 2024, as part of the Patriotic Support Fund, according to a report from the 4th session of the Fund’s orientation council. This financial support underscores the collective national effort to address security challenges and promote development across the country.
