President Mbumba Urges Namibians to Preserve Cultural Heritage for Unity and Economic Growth

OKAHAO— In a poignant address at the third Ehao Cultural Expo, President Nangolo Mbumba emphasized the crucial role of culture and heritage in fostering national unity, social cohesion, and economic development. His remarks highlighted the importance of embracing cultural identity as a means to counteract marginalization and promote inclusivity.

According to Namibia Press Agency, culture not only strengthens social bonds but also contributes to the economy by creating jobs and generating revenue through creative industries. He praised the Ehao Cultural Expo as a vital platform for celebrating and preserving Namibia’s rich heritage, particularly in Okahao, which he referred to as the “Home of Rich Heritage.”

The president stressed the importance of cultural education, especially for the youth, to ensure they appreciate and continue the traditions of their ancestors. He asserted that understanding one’s heritage is essential for its preservation and care.

Furthermore, King Johannes Mupiya of Ongandjera echoed the president’s sentiments on the significance of maintaining peace and order for the prosperity of Namibia. He emphasized the duty of traditional leaders in safeguarding cultural practices and ensuring stability for future generations.

The Ehao Cultural Expo, which commenced on Monday and will conclude on Friday, operates under the theme “Embracing Business Activities through Culture and Innovation,” highlighting the intersection of cultural preservation and modern economic practices.
