President Lourenço Engages in Strategic Talks on Cooperation at UN Assembly

New york: President Joo Lourenço engaged in discussions on cooperation with several international leaders during the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York. Among the key meetings was an exchange with Finnish President Alexander Stubb, focusing on enhancing cooperation between Angola and Finland. According to Angola Press News Agency, the dialogue between the Angolan and Finnish leaders underscored a memorandum of understanding signed in 2020. This agreement aims to foster collaboration in the Telecoms, IT, and Meteorology sectors, as well as to encourage joint entrepreneurship. The memorandum, with a renewable five-year term, seeks to facilitate knowledge exchange, technological advancements, increased investments, and the establishment of joint ventures between the two nations. In addition to his meeting with President Stubb, President Lourenço also held separate discussions with Austria's Chancellor Christian Stocker and the Director-General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organ ization, Gerd Muller. The diplomatic relations between Angola and Austria, established in October 1981, hold potential for expanded cooperation in sectors including health, the oil and food industries, environmental protection, renewable energy, technology, vocational training, culture, and tourism. President Lourenço's schedule also included meetings with European Union Commission President Úrsula Von Der Leyen and the High Representative of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, Miguel Ángel Moratinos Cuyaubé. Additionally, he engaged with DP World's Chairman and CEO, Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Rob Walton, CEO of the Rob Walton Foundation, and an advisor to the President of the United States.
