The president expressed appreciation for the efforts of the outgoing Attorney General, Helder Pitta Gros, who played a pivotal role in addressing corruption, a topic previously considered "taboo" in Angola.

Magistrate Pedro Mendes de Carvalho, set to succeed Gros, brings extensive experience from his long career in the Angolan judicial system. Known for his expertise within the Public Prosecutor's Office, de Carvalho has held several leadership roles and coordinated key judicial processes. In his new role as Attorney General, he will oversee criminal proceedings, coordinate investigations, and represent the state, granting the office a crucial role in upholding the rule of law in Angola.
