President Louren§o Commends Angolan Army’s Role in National Stability


Luanda: The President of the Republic and Commander-in-Chief of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), Joao Louren§o, highlighted the role of the Army in defending territorial integrity, preserving peace, and guaranteeing national stability.



According to Angola Press News Agency, in his message addressed to general officers, lieutenants, captains, junior officers, sergeants, enlisted personnel, and civilian workers on the occasion of the Army’s 34th anniversary, the Head of State emphasized that the event occurs in a significant year for the country. This year is marked by the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of National Independence, celebrated on 11 November.



President Louren§o noted that the anniversary is a moment to remember the sacrifice and courage of all Angolans who fought for a free, sovereign, and independent Angola. He emphasized that the Army has been a fundamental pillar of the Angolan State for over three decades.



He stated that the Army was formed from the sovereign will of the Angolan people to consolidate peace and transform a past of conflict into a future of hope. The aim was to build a disciplined, organized land force capable of defending the Homeland under any circumstances.



The Commander-in-Chief of the FAA acknowledged the Army’s contribution to preserving constitutional order, ensuring population security, and reinforcing national sovereignty. He praised the patriotic spirit, discipline, professionalism, and sense of mission demonstrated by the Army personnel.



President Louren§o also addressed contemporary challenges requiring attention to geostrategic dynamics, technological evolution, and unconventional threats. He emphasized the importance of joint action with other Armed Forces branches and strategic partners in the National Security System.



In this regard, he reiterated the Angolan State’s commitment to modernizing the Army, valuing human resources, continuous training, technological innovation, and reinforcing operational capacity. He highlighted human capital as the institution’s main strength.



Furthermore, the Head of State acknowledged the Angolan Army’s role in regional, African, and international military cooperation. He mentioned military diplomacy, technical-professional exchange, and participation in peace support operations as contributions that elevate Angola’s prestige globally.



Joao Louren§o reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives that strengthen the Angolan Army, enhance internal cohesion, and consolidate the mission of defending territorial integrity, sovereignty, and national security.



On this occasion, the President extended congratulations to all Army personnel and civilian workers, expressing the Nation’s appreciation for their invaluable contribution to Angola’s peace, security, and development.
