Abuja: President Dr. Julius Maada Bio, the leader of Sierra Leone and Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, has arrived in Abuja, Nigeria, to attend the official commissioning of the newly constructed ECOWAS Headquarters, a regional facility known as "Eye of West Africa." According to Sierra Leone News Agency, President Bio is accompanied by a high-level delegation that includes Foreign Affairs Minister Timothy Musa Kabba and other senior government officials. In his capacity as Chairman, President Bio will play a key role during the commissioning ceremony. He is expected to deliver a keynote address and perform the ribbon-cutting ceremony. The event will also feature remarks from China's Foreign Minister, acknowledging the People's Republic of China's financial and construction support for the new headquarters. Additional addresses will be delivered by President Bio, Dr. Touray, and President Tinubu. The facility boasts an 800-seat conference hall, modern interpretation-equipped meeting rooms, archives, a medical clinic, and parking facilities for over 700 vehicles. President Bio's involvement in the ceremony underscores Sierra Leone's active leadership within ECOWAS and the Authority's ongoing commitment to regional integration, institutional reform, peace, security, and economic cooperation throughout West Africa.
