Algiers: Angolan President Joo Louren§o was awarded on Monday with the highest-level honorary decoration by the Algerian State, in recognition of his commitment to strengthening the relations of friendship and cooperation between Angola and Algeria. The distinction was presented by the Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, during a ceremony held in Algiers, as part of Joo Louren§o's 3-day state visit to the North African country.
According to Angola Press News Agency, at the same event, the Angolan Head of State awarded the Algerian statesman the Order of Agostinho Neto, the highest decoration granted by the Angolan State to personalities who distinguish themselves through relevant achievements for the benefit of nations and peoples. The ceremony brought together members of the governments of both countries, businesspeople, academics, diplomats, and other individuals invited to the solemn event.
After the exchange of distinctions, the Algerian authorities offered an official dinner in honor of President Joo Louren§o, in an atmosphere marked by the strengthening of political, diplomatic, and historical ties between Luanda and Algiers. The tribute to the two Heads of State took place after the signing of 11 legal instruments of cooperation between Angola and Algeria, in the sectors of Oil and Gas, Transport, Mines, Water Resources, Vocational Training, Post and Telecommunications, among other strategic areas.
