According to Angola Press News Agency, in a message addressed to the U.S. Head of State, Joo Lourenço also congratulated the people and government of the United States on the milestone, which he deemed of great historical significance. The Angolan leader highlighted the United States' trajectory over two and a half centuries, a period during which the country established itself as a model of success in economics, science, and technology, as well as a source of inspiration for other nations. In the message, Joo Lourenço expressed confidence in the strengthening of bilateral cooperation and stated that the prospects opened in recent years would continue to drive relations between the two countries. According to the President, deepening cooperati on should benefit the peoples, business communities, and institutions of both Angola and the United States. Relations between Angola and the United States have seen significant strengthening, spanning strategic sectors such as defense and security, health, trade, energy, infrastructure, and the energy transition. In the realm of defense and security, cooperation has been deepened through Angola's integration into the State Partnership Program (SPP), through a partnership between the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) and the Ohio National Guard. The two countries also cooperate in the areas of maritime security, demining, and military training. In the health sector, the governments of the two countries concluded a cooperation agreement valued at approximately $121 million, aimed at supporting national health system priorities and strengthening Angola's capacity to achieve health autonomy. On the economic and commercial front, Washington has promoted business missions to Angola, focusing particularly on the agribusi ness, infrastructure, and transport sectors. The partnership also includes memoranda of understanding to promote private investment, backed by financial support from the Export-Import Bank (EXIM Bank) of the United States. In the fields of energy and infrastructure, the United States is a key international partner in the Lobito Corridor-a project considered strategic for the transport of minerals and goods from Southern Africa. Cooperation also extends to the energy transition and the development of modern, secure, and resilient telecommunications networks. Beyond the economic component, Washington recognizes Angola's role in promoting regional peace and stability-particularly through conflict mediation and the strengthening of cooperation across the African continent-thereby consolidating a partnership viewed as increasingly strategic for both nations.
