President Joo Lourenço Arrives in Luanda After State Visit to France

Luanda: President Joo Lourenço arrived in Luanda after a 48-hour state visit to France at the invitation of his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron. At the 4 de Fevereiro International Airport, the Head of State, accompanied by the First Lady, Ana Dias Lourenço, was greeted by the Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa.

According to Angola Press News Agency, during his visit to Paris, Joo Lourenço held a private meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron and engaged in official talks. The Angolan President was also received by the President of the French National Assembly, Braun-Pivet, and attended an official dinner in his honor, where he delivered a speech.

Joo Lourenço was awarded the “Officer’s Cross of the French Legion of Honor” by Emmanuel Macron, marking the highest distinction of the French State. On the final day of his visit, Lourenço inaugurated the Angola-France Economic Forum, emphasizing Angola’s openness to investors, and visited the Waste Treatment and Reuse Plant in Paris.

The Angolan President conducted meetings with various business and diplomatic figures, including the Secretary General of La Francophonie, Louise Mushkiwabo. He also engaged in discussions with Patrick Pouyanné, CEO of TotalEnergies, Alstom vice-president Philippe Delleur, and Bouygues Group executive vice-president Cristophe Petit.

Additionally, Lourenço met with the European Commissioner for International Partnerships, Josef Sikela, Airbus Executive Board Vice-President for the International Area, Wouter Van Wersch, Meteo France International President, Patrick Benichou, and ARQUUS Managing Director, Emmanuel Levacher.
