Abidjan: Angolan President Joo Lourenço on Monday received the Under Secretary of State for Economic Affairs of the United States of America, Jacob Helberg, in Abidjan, Côte Ivoire. Upon leaving, Jacob Helberg told journalists that the audience granted by President Joo Lourenço served as an approach to the ‘state of economic relations and prospects for their strengthening’.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the United States of America advocates for the establishment of a partnership, particularly with Angola, which is experiencing population development. The US official highlighted that ‘like many countries on the African continent, Angola is facing a very rapid increase in young people.’
Helberg emphasized that this demographic trend presents an opportunity to export US technologies, which will enable Angola to create job opportunities for its youth in the future.
President Joo Lourenço’s meeting with the US official coincided with his participation in the inauguration of the President of Côte D’Iv
oire, Alassane Ouatarra. Relations between Angola and the United States, which have spanned over 30 years, continue to deepen with regular engagements at the highest level.
