President Joo Louren§o Receives Message From Zambian Counterpart


Luanda: President Joo Louren§o received on Friday a message from his Zambian counterpart, Hakainde Hichilema, addressing ways to strengthen bilateral relations. Zambia’s Foreign Affairs Minister and International Cooperation, Mulambo Hamakuni Haimbe, delivered the message in his capacity as special envoy of President Hakainde Hichilema.



According to Angola Press News Agency, at the end of the meeting, the Zambian minister noted that the message aims to strengthen cooperation between the two countries and peoples, especially in light of the changing world order. He highlighted that the two countries must support each other to advance in terms of economic and social development.



The Zambian foreign minister also expressed solidarity with the Angolan people as they prepare to celebrate 50 years of independence on November 11. He emphasized the importance of continuing to strengthen sectors such as diplomacy, security, and especially the economy.



Angola and Zambia are both members of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the African Union. The two countries share a 1,110-kilometer border and regularly cooperate within the framework of the General Agreement on Economic, Scientific, Technical, and Cultural Cooperation, signed in 1979.



Last year, the two nations enhanced their bilateral cooperation by signing six legal instruments, five memoranda of understanding, and one agreement during the Zambian president’s state visit to Angola.
