President Joo Louren§o Praises Rehabilitation of Namibe Cultural Center

Namibe: President Joo Louren§o praised on Friday Toyota Tsusho Corporation for its social responsibility in rehabilitating the building that will house the new Namibe Cultural Center. This project had been stalled for half a century.

According to Angola Press News Agency, President Louren§o expressed his gratitude towards Toyota Tsusho Corporation for their efforts in transforming the building into a cultural venue. He acknowledged the historical significance of the project, noting that it was initiated during colonial times but came to a standstill in 1975. The completion of this project, 50 years later, marks a significant milestone for the province.

The president pointed out the successful collaboration between the state and private sectors, emphasizing the importance of business institutions in social and community development. This partnership is seen as crucial for promoting national culture.

The newly renovated Namibe Cultural Center features exhibition halls, an auditorium, training spaces, and areas dedicated to cultural and recreational activities. The center’s modernization aligns with current requirements and aims to serve the cultural needs of the community.

The government hopes that the inauguration of this space will stimulate local artistic production, provide opportunities for the youth in arts and culture, and encourage cultural exchange across the country’s regions.

The ceremony was attended by members of the Executive, provincial authorities, civil society representatives, and officials from Toyota Tsusho Corporation.
