President Joo Louren§o on His Way to Rio de Janeiro for BRICS Summit

Luanda: President Joo Louren§o departed from the 4 de Fevereiro International Airport, receiving farewell greetings from Vice-President Esperan§a da Costa and other notable figures, as he heads to Rio de Janeiro for the BRICS Summit.



According to Angola Press News Agency, the summit will host BRICS members and invited leaders from Asia, Latin America, and Africa. They are set to discuss pressing global issues such as peace and security, global governance reforms, multilateralism, artificial intelligence, environmental concerns, and global health. These discussions will take place over two days, with Sunday being the main day featuring morning, afternoon, and evening sessions, described as almost “non-stop.”



BRICS, comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia, Indonesia, and Iran, acts as a forum for political-diplomatic articulation among Global South countries. It focuses on strengthening economic, political, and social cooperation, while increasing the influence of these countries in international governance.
