President Joo Louren§o Engages with Religious and Traditional Leaders on Social Issues


Luanda: President Joo Louren§o met on Tuesday with representatives of religious denominations and a traditional authority to discuss social and economic issues. The Head of State hosted the meeting at the Presidential Palace, engaging with the secretary-general of the Council of Christian Churches in Angola, Reverend Vladimir Agostinho, the prophetess Susete Joo, and King Muanauta from the Buegas region in the province of U­ge.



According to Angola Press News Agency, the discussions centered around the challenges faced by communities, the enhancement of social actions, inter-institutional dialogue, and the creation of public policies grounded in local realities. Reverend Vladimir Agostinho, speaking to the press after the meeting, revealed that he presented a social monitoring and participatory poverty assessment report to the president. This report, developed by his religious congregation, highlighted issues in the provinces of Hu­la, Lunda Norte, and Lunda Sul, including children lacking birth certificates, health and education problems, and deficiencies in basic sanitation.



Prophetess Suzete Joo, also a member of the Council of the Republic, shared insights with President Louren§o about the challenges faced by young people, particularly concerning employment and housing. King Muanauta discussed with the president the difficulties confronting the people of his region, urging the Executive to devise appropriate solutions. He emphasized the community’s pressing needs for road rehabilitation, more schools, health centers, access to drinking water, and public lighting.
