Luanda: The President of the Republic and African Union Chair Joo Louren§o on Tuesday emphasized the necessity to deepen the partnership between Africa and Europe, advocating for elevated cooperation that yields tangible results. This call was made during the closing speech of the 7th African Union-European Union Summit.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Joo Louren§o highlighted that the AU-EU relationship is dynamic and needs ongoing evolution, surpassing previous achievements. He emphasized that joint ambitions should aim for higher goals that generate reciprocal benefits, directly impacting the development of both African and European populations.
The President expressed optimism that the upcoming summit in 2028 in Europe will further the common vision on strategic areas. These areas include industrialization, trade and investment, sustainable financing, climate action, digital partnerships, and innovation. He noted that the summit's outcomes have strengthened mutual trust and demonstrated the continents' capacity to act as determined partners in contributing to a world characterized by peace, justice, and prosperity.
President Louren§o extended his gratitude to the delegations and praised the efforts of the African Union Commission and the European Union Commission teams, acknowledging their essential role in the summit's success.
The final day of the summit, culminating in the declaration of Luanda, featured discussions on prosperity, migration, and mobility before concluding officially.
