President Ibrahim Traore Addresses Troops on Preparedness Amid Conflict

Gaoua, South-West Region – In a significant meeting at the National Fire Brigade Barracks in Gaoua, President of the Transition and Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traore, addressed the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) this morning.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Traore commended the forces for their efforts in combating terrorism in the region, highlighting their resilience and determination. He emphasized the importance of being prepared for various types of conflicts, not just terrorism, citing recent events in the sub-region.

In his address, Captain Traore announced plans to establish Rapid Intervention Battalions (BIR) in Gaoua and Banfora, in addition to the existing one in Bobo-Dioulasso. He stressed the ongoing nature of the conflict, referencing a recent terrorist attempt in Djibo, and urged the forces to be ready for any eventuality. Measures to strengthen personnel and combat equipment for the FDS and VDP were also discussed, aiming to push terrorism beyond the country’s borders.
