Ouagadougou – President Assimi Goïta of Mali commended the role of Russia, China, and Turkey in empowering the AES countries—Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger—to improve their counter-terrorism capabilities. According to President Goïta, these partnerships have been crucial in enabling the nations to better equip themselves and conduct effective operations against armed terrorist groups.
According to Burkina Information Agency, these nations have opted to abandon less effective alliances in favor of more genuine and supportive relationships with Russia, China, and Turkey. This strategic pivot, articulated during his visit to Ouagadougou, signifies a significant shift in the region’s approach to international partnerships and security.
“These new partnerships have enabled the three countries to equip themselves well and effectively carry out operations against armed terrorist groups,” President Goïta explained. The president’s statements underline a commitment to stronger and more result-oriented international cooperation in the battle against terrorism across the region.
