President GOÏTA Accuses Foreign Powers of Manipulating Terrorism in the Sahel

OUAGADOUGOU — During a recent visit to Burkina Faso, Colonel Assimi GOÏTA, President of Mali, declared that terrorism in the region is exacerbated by the interference of certain foreign powers.

According to Burkina Information Agency, The President stated that these external entities manipulate and finance terrorist activities, which complicates the geopolitical landscape and does not align with the aspirations of the Sahelian populations. This assertion was made during a diplomatic engagement in Ouagadougou with his Burkinabè counterpart, Captain Ibrahim Traoré.

“Our destinies are intertwined, and we are committed to a joint path with no return, focusing on pooling resources and sharing intelligence to achieve significant operational results,” affirmed President GOÏTA. He emphasized the unified stance of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES), comprising Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger, in their collective security efforts.
