Fada N’Gourma: Imam Aboubacar Kina implored God to grant peace to Burkina Faso during the prayer marking the end of 30 days of penance this Monday, March 31, 2025, in Fada N’Gourma. For 30 days, like other cities, the Muslim faithful of Fada N’Gourma observed the fast.

According to Burkina Information Agency, to mark the end of this penance, these Muslim faithful took communion together during a major prayer on Monday, March 31, 2025, in Fada N’Gourma, in the presence of administrative and religious authorities of other faiths on Unity Square. In his sermon, Imam Aboubacar Kina indicated that it is a great grace that the fasting of Muslims and Christians coincides at the same time this year.

Thus, he added that during these 30 days, day and night, they implored God in prayers to grant health and peace in the Eastern region in particular and in Burkina Faso in general. “On this day of great prayer marking the culmination of penance, Muslims, members of other religions and administrative authorities joined together to ask for the return of peace to Burkina Faso,” Aboubakar Kina said.

During these moments of penance, Imam Kina said he had asked Allah to further protect the President of Faso, his colleagues and the valiant fighters who are fighting to reclaim our territory. Bishop Yenpabou Pierre Claver Malgo of the Diocese of Fada N’Gourma expressed gratitude for the prayer efforts. “Fasting combined with prayer makes prayer very effective.” We want to thank our Muslim brothers for these efforts of prayer and fasting which have certainly brought many graces, not only to them but to the entire Burkinabe population,” he stated.

The bishop emphasized that during this period of penance, he requested that all Burkinabe pray for peace, unity, and forgiveness. “What we ask of God is that He accepts these prayers and grants them,” said Bishop Yenpabou Pierre Claver Malgo. For the bishop, the coincidence of the fasts of Muslims and Christians is not accidental. According to Bishop Malgo, through this act, the Lord wants them to join forces in prayer and fasting to implore Him and ask for the same thing.

He added that it symbolizes effectiveness because they are united. “These two aspects of their religion will attract many graces to the eastern region and to all of Burkina Faso,” he proclaimed. The Governor of the Eastern Region, Ram Joseph Kafando, leading a delegation of constituent bodies, expressed his support and gratitude for the prayers offered during this period of penance for peace and security in Burkina Faso. Mr. Kafando urged the population to rally behind the FDS and VDP in regaining the integrity of their beloved country’s borders.
