Ohangwena - The Namibia Water Corporation (NamWater) announced that the Ohangwena Region is experiencing significant water supply interruptions following a power failure that impacted their pumping operations.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the power outage occurred on Sunday around 19h00, severely affecting the water pumping capabilities from Omakango to Omafo. NamWater spokesperson Lot Ndamanomhata explained that the disruption was due to recent power outages, which hindered their ability to maintain regular water supply. "However, we are pleased to inform you that NamWater has successfully commenced pumping water to Omafo, which currently stands at 22 per cent," Ndamanomhata stated. He further mentioned that once the pumping levels reach 45 percent, water distribution to the affected areas would begin.
The water supply issue has affected the entire Ohangwena Region, except for the town of Eenhana. Ndamanomhata expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by these disruptions and reassured residents that efforts were underway to restore normal water service as quickly as possible. NamWater has asked for patience and understanding from the public during this period.
