Balé: The prefect president of the special delegation of Boromo, Esaï Bamogo, officially inaugurated a new poultry feed production unit named “Faso Poultry” on Saturday, November 16, 2024, in sector 2 of Boromo. The initiative, led by young entrepreneur Alexis Gandema, aims to enhance the local poultry production and processing industry. The ceremony saw participation from numerous stakeholders in the poultry sector, local populations, and authorities.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the newly established unit is equipped with a multipurpose mixer grinder capable of producing one tonne of feed per hour, with potential to increase production to three tonnes per hour. Currently, the facility provides employment for four individuals. Mr. Gandema expressed that the project is a realization of several years of saving and dedication.
The Faso Poultry facility offers producers customizable feed options, with stock made available for purchase. The feed, primarily composed of corn and soybeans, is enriched
with essential nutrients vital for the health and growth of various poultry types. Mr. Gandema emphasized that the pricing strategy is designed to support local producers and address the ongoing issue of feed availability for farms and family livestock in the province.
Yaya Traoré, a farmer from the nearby commune of Siby, highlighted the significance of poultry production in the Balé province, noting that many locals rely on the sector for employment. He pointed out that high production costs, due to sourcing chicks and feed from larger cities, pose challenges for producers. Traoré believes the new unit will bolster the livestock industry in the area.
Esaï Bamogo, the prefect president, reiterated the importance of the chicken trade as a key economic driver for Boromo, supporting numerous families in the region. He praised the establishment of the unit, acknowledging its role in job creation and livestock sector promotion. Bamogo urged all stakeholders to back the entrepreneur’s efforts.
