Postponed Namib Chiefs vs Oryza Sativa Match Rescheduled for This Weekend

Katima mulilo: The match between Namib Chiefs FC and Oryza Sativa FC in the Namport Zambezi Regional Second Division League will take place this weekend, after it was abandoned twice mid-play due to torrential rain.

According to Namibia Press Agency, league administrators confirmed that the encounter is finally set to proceed alongside other outstanding matches that were previously delayed. Among the returning teams is Real Cheetahs, who sidelined their previous fixtures to observe a period of mourning for their head coach, Dominic Simbombo. Simbombo passed away last month.

On Saturday, eighth-placed Namib Chiefs will kick off against Oryza Sativa at 12h00 at the Katima Mulilo Complex. This will be followed at 14h00 by a clash between Real Cheetahs and Space Age at the same venue. Officials noted that only these specific catch-up games will be played this weekend to ensure all clubs reach parity in matches played since the league's 31 January 2026 commencement.

The decision to limit the weekend's second-division slate is also a logistical necessity. Regional venues, including the UNAM Sports Field and the Katima Mulilo Sports Complex, must accommodate First Division side Black Hawks and visiting teams such as Kavango East's Eastern Chiefs.

The race to the 15 June 2026 season finale has intensified following a series of upsets in recent rounds. Current log leaders Bush Bucks remains on 25 points after suffering a narrow 1-0 defeat to Oryza Sativa at the UNAM Sports Field. This result allowed second-placed Shooting Stars to close the gap to within two points, sitting at 23 points after their 3-1 victory over Real Cheetahs.

In other recent action, Zambezi Sporting Academy secured a 2-0 win against Real Cheetahs, while Blue Chiefs dismantled fourth-placed Black Buffaloes 5-1. Each club in the division is expected to complete 22 games before the close of the current campaign.
