Poni: The High Commission of the province of Poni organized a blood donation day on Wednesday, as part of the national campaign 'Deme Sira' or 'the path of solidarity', aimed at promoting mutual aid and solidarity for the benefit of vulnerable populations.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Bepampo Ouoba, the High Commissioner of the Poni province and initiator of the activity, stated that this blood donation day constitutes a strong appeal for national solidarity in favor of patients in hospitals in the Dj´r´ region and beyond throughout Burkina Faso. "Through this initiative, we are launching an appeal to all the people of the province of Poni and elsewhere to make solidarity a daily commitment, especially towards sick, vulnerable, disabled or emergency situations," he said.

Mr. Ouoba commended the mobilization of blood donors and encouraged those still hesitant to join this vital effort, in line with the values of solidarity inherited from their ancestors. He emphasized that preserving and revitalizing these values is essential to guaranteeing sovereignty, dignity, and national cohesion.

For the Regional Director of Family and Solidarity, Lamoussahan Souali, blood donation is among the many activities carried out as part of the "Deme Sira" campaign, which is taking place simultaneously in all provinces of the region. "Blood donation is a powerful expression of solidarity, because giving blood means giving a part of yourself to save lives," she stated.

Ms. Souali expressed her delight at the strong turnout of people who responded to the call, thanking them for their contribution. According to her, this surge in participation demonstrates that solidarity remains a deeply ingrained value in the Burkinabe people.

This activity is part of the "Deme Sira" campaign, launched on November 14, 2025 and scheduled to end on January 31, 2026. During this period, several actions have been carried out across the country to strengthen national solidarity and support vulnerable people.

Through this mobilization around blood donation, the provincial authorities of Poni reaffirm their commitment to promoting active solidarity, a fundamental pillar of living together and the harmonious development of Burkina Faso.
