Poni: The Provincial Directorate of Preschool, Primary and Non-Formal Education (DPEPPNF) of Poni organized, this Saturday, a Day of Excellence, in order to reward the best students and actors of the education system of the province for the 2025-2026 school year. Placed under the patronage of the High Commissioner of the province of Poni, Bepampo Ouoba, the ceremony took place on the premises of schools A and B in Gaoua, in the presence of administrative, military, customary and religious authorities, as well as students, teachers, educational supervisors and education partners.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this initiative, relaunched after a two-year hiatus, made it possible to distinguish the top students in the CM1 and CM2 classes of each Basic Education District (CEB), the five best students admitted to the Primary School Certificate (CEP) in the province, the best teachers in each CEB, the best facilitators in national languages, and the best teacher in the province. The winners received school kits, bicycles, computers, certificates of recognition and other rewards designed to encourage excellence and perseverance.
The High Commissioner of Poni, Bepampo Ouoba, praised the achievements of education stakeholders and expressed his gratitude to all those who contribute to the education of children. "Today we celebrate excellence and merit. Behind every distinguished student is close support provided by dedicated teachers. That is why it was important to also recognize the best teachers in the province," he said. He particularly congratulated the best teacher in the province and invited all stakeholders to continue their efforts to further improve academic performance.
The province's top official recalled that Poni achieved a success rate of 91.44% in the CEP, an encouraging result, while urging stakeholders to redouble their efforts to enable the province to be among the best in the Dj´r´ region and Burkina Faso. Addressing the award-winning students, Comrade Ouoba encouraged them to maintain their level of excellence. "Being excellent is one thing, but the most important thing is to remain so. Burkina Faso needs honest, hardworking citizens who are committed to doing a good job," he stressed, reaffirming the commitment of provincial authorities to support all initiatives aimed at promoting quality education.
The Provincial Director of Preschool, Primary and Non-Formal Education in Poni, K©r©woul© Jonas Tioy©, indicated that this Day of Excellence had not been organized for two years, mainly due to financial constraints. According to him, the resumption of this activity aims to recognize the merits of the actors who contributed to the good results recorded during the 2025-2026 school year. "The province has gone from a success rate of 85% last year to 91.44% this year. We had set a target of 90% and it has been exceeded. This is satisfactory, but it does not mean that we should rest on our laurels," he stated.
The provincial director urged the award winners and all stakeholders in the education system to continue their efforts to further improve the province's results in the upcoming sessions. Through this celebration, the Provincial Directorate of Education intends to strengthen the culture of excellence, encourage good practices and stimulate healthy competition between students, teachers and the various stakeholders in the education sector.
