Nahouri: The public transport company SOTRACO approved three urban lines in Gaoua and six intercommunal lines in the Dj´r´ region following a workshop aimed at enhancing population mobility.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the workshop was chaired by the governor of the Dj´r´ region, Siaka Barro, under the theme "Improving the mobility of the populations of Gaoua and surrounding communes through the services of SOTRACO." This event brought together key stakeholders from the region to deliberate on the new bus network.
The SOTRACO technical team, alongside stakeholders, validated the urban and inter-municipal bus routes, including the Gaoua-Tiankoura, Gaoua-Kampti, Gaoua-Bati e, Di ebougou-Bondigui, Di ebougou-Dano, and Di ebougou-Tiankoura routes. The general manager of SOTRACO, Drissa Sawadogo, highlighted the workshop's purpose, which was to familiarize the main beneficiaries with the network lines and present the bus network project for Gaoua.
He further explained that the workshop aimed to assess the network's expected performance, introduce SOTRACO's services, and seek support for land and infrastructure. "This workshop allowed us to present the data from the studies carried out as well as the results for validation. After this step, there will be preparatory phases for the installation of the network in collaboration with the local authorities," Sawadogo stated.
The installation phase will include providing parking areas, parking spaces, and maneuvering areas. Once these conditions are fulfilled, the buses will be ready for deployment.
Governor Siaka Barro expressed support for the initiative, noting that it would enhance public transport and facilitate safer travel for pupils and students to their educational institutions. The region is expected to receive approximately twenty buses for this network.
