Poni: Gaoua Hosts First “Solidarity Cinema” Festival Focused on Peace and Resilience

Gaoua: The Association for the Promotion of Cinema (APCine) recently announced the launch of the inaugural "Solidarity Cinema" Festival, set to take place in Gaoua from November 27 to 30, 2025. The festival, themed "Cinema, Peace and Resilience," aims to foster peace, social cohesion, and cultural development through the medium of film.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the organizing committee has outlined a series of events for the 72-hour festival, which include film screenings, discussions, workshops on film industry professions, and a community-oriented blood drive. These activities are scheduled to occur at multiple venues, such as the Poni cinema, Place de la Revolution, the Youth Listening Centre, and several high schools in the city.

The festival's opening film will be "Katanga," the recipient of the FESPACO 2025 Golden Stallion award. Organizers have called upon the residents of Gaoua and neighboring areas, particularly the youth, to actively participate in the event. The festival is envisioned as an opportunity for learning, raising awareness, and personal growth.

APCine, a burgeoning association founded by a group of young cinema enthusiasts led by Albertine Da, aims to advance the film industry in the Dj´r´ region. The association's initiatives include film screenings, training programs, and nurturing young talent in the cinematic arts.
