Poni: The grand finale of the 5th edition of the Gaoua Little Stars Festival (FESTIPEG) took place in Gaoua, culminating in Gaoua B School being crowned the winner. The festival, centered around the theme "Education and Retention of Girls in School," featured various schools from the city and ended with Gaoua B School securing its fourth victory since the festival's inception.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event showcased a range of performances including slam poetry, a fashion show, theater, modern dance ballet, and traditional dance. Gaoua B School emerged as the overall winner, earning the trophy for this edition. Event promoter Dalou Matthieu Da expressed satisfaction at the successful continuation of the festival, despite organizational challenges, and praised the quality of the children's performances.
Si Pal, the regional director of preschool, primary, and non-formal education in Dj´r´, attending on behalf of the Minister of Basic Education, Literacy and Promotion of National Languages, commended the initiative. He highlighted its alignment with educational priorities, particularly in combating the dropout rate of girls, which was 8.90% in the Dj´r´ region during the 2024-2025 school year. Reverend Pastor Henoc Sib, co-sponsor of the ceremony, emphasized the importance of investing in children's education, especially for girls, as a critical development issue.
From the perspective of the winning school, supervisor Si Hien attributed their success to the students' discipline, determination, and commitment during rehearsals. Beyond the competitive aspect, the Les Petites ‚¬°toiles de Gaoua Festival has become a platform for talent promotion and raising awareness about educational and social issues in the Dj´r´ region.
