Pretoria – In Polokwane, a 37-year-old foreign national was arrested for possession of drugs on Wednesday, 22 November 2023. The arrest occurred during a joint operation by the Provincial Organised Crime Unit while the suspect was at a hiking spot, attempting to travel back to Elim in Makhado under Vhembe District.

According to South African Police Service, During the operation, police confiscated heroin with an estimated street value of R4,000. Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, the Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo, praised the arrest, underscoring the province’s dedication to fighting drug trafficking. The suspect is scheduled to appear before the Polokwane Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 24 November 2023, facing a drug possession charge.
