Mbanza Kongo: Police have seized 5,965 liters of fuel that was intended to be smuggled into the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The operation was conducted by the Border Guard Police in the Zaire province, specifically in the border commune of Luvo, located approximately 60 kilometers north of Mbanza Kongo, the provincial capital.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the seizure took place on Sunday, resulting in the arrest of nine national citizens who are accused of attempting to smuggle the diesel fuel across the border. In addition to the fuel, authorities seized 35 bags of rice, 10 bale balloons, and a volume of shoes, all of which were also meant for illegal transport to the DRC through clandestine paths locally known as ‘fiotes’.

The operation further led to the confiscation of nine three-wheeled motorcycles and one two-wheeled motorcycle, which were allegedly used to transport the contraband goods. These items, along with the seized products, have been handed over to the Department of Investig
ation of Criminal Offenses (DIIP) in Zaire for further processing.
