Lunda-norte: Police in the province of Lunda-Norte seized 469 diamond stones of various carats last week, targeting illegal exploration, possession, and trafficking activities as part of 'Operation Connection,' which has been ongoing since October 2025.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the Institutional Communication and Press Office of the Provincial Command of the National Police in Lunda-Norte presented these findings on Monday. Alongside the diamonds, authorities also seized 1,350,000.00 kwanzas, 1,300 US dollars, and 2,210 liters of fuel, among other materials.
The operations took place in the municipalities of Lucapa, L³vua, Dundo, Cambulo, and Canzar. The seized diamonds are slated for delivery to ENDIAMA EP, the designated custodian.
Additionally, 604 citizens of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) were repatriated as part of the same operation due to their illegal entry and stay within the national territory. The repatriations occurred through border posts in the municipalities of Camaxilo, Luremo, Chitato, L³vua, and Canzar, with the immigrants reportedly intending to settle in mining areas to mine for diamonds.
Lunda Norte shares a 770-kilometer border with the DRC, which is a significant factor in the context of the operation.
