The police commander mentioned, "Investigators believe that the weapon fell from the suspects during their violent struggle with Okong'o." The gun has been preserved by forensic experts and is being dispatched to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Headquarters in Nairobi for ballistic analysis to trace its origin and link it to other crimes.
Meanwhile, Edwin Okong'o remains in stable condition at Matata Hospital, recuperating from head, chin, and hand injuries sustained during the assault. The businessman was driving home to his residence in Obisa village when the robbery occurred. He informed police that at around 8:06 PM, as he waited at his entrance gate, two unidentified men emerged from the darkness.
Okong'o recounted that one of the men brandished a pistol, commanding him to step out of his vehicle and hand over all his money and valuables. "I refused to their demands," Mr. Okong'o said, adding that one of the robbers fired a live round into the air and began to bludgeon him with a blunt object, resulting in severe head injuries.
