Police members remain committed to take drugs, unlicensed firearms and ammunition off the streets

Police members deployed in the Western Cape remain committed to go the proverbial extra mile to take drugs, unlicensed firearms and ammunition off the streets.

Cloetesville police members were busy with patrols on Saturday 15 July 2023 when they noticed a crowd gathering in Woodman Street. They moved closer and the community members pointed to an unknown man who was in possession of a firearm. The police members apprehended him and discovered a 9mm pistol in his possession. They arrested and detained the man on a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm.

Police members attached to the Maitland Flying Squad were busy with routine patrols in Athlone on Sunday 16 July 2023 at around 13:30 when they saw a suspicious man and approached him. The man started to run with police members in pursuit. When the members searched him they found methamphetamine in his possession. They arrested and detained the 32-year-old man on a charge of possession of drugs.

Once charged the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Stellenbosch and Athlone Magistrate court’s on the mentioned charges.
