Police investigates murder and hijacking, suspect(s) sought

Police in Vosman are investigating a case of murder with an additional charge of carjacking. The incident occurred in Vosman on Monday, 17 July 2023 around 20:00.

A report indicates that police in Vosman received information about carjacking and members responded to the matter accordingly. Upon arrival, they found a group of community members who told them that the driver, who is a victim had been rushed to hospital for medical treatment as he was reportedly shot.

The members then proceeded to hospital where they found a body of a male person with gunshot wound on his upper body. Further information from medical personnel indicated that the victim, who has since been identified as Walter Masemola (43) years old, was certified dead on arrival.

A murder case was then opened by the Police and the investigation reveals that he was sadly shot during a hijacking incident. It is said that on that fateful night, Masemola was reportedly hijacked during the time he was driving a white Toyota GD6 Club Cab with the branding displayed on the sides of the vehicle with the words ‘Richie Crane Hire’.

No one has been arrested so far and police urge anyone with information that may assist in arresting the suspects who committed this crime to contact Vosman Police Station at 079 891 4822. Alternatively members of the public can call the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111 or send information via MYSAPSAPP. All received information will be treated as confidential and callers may opt to remain anonymous.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has vowed that police will not rest until suspects are brought to book.
