Police Constable Edwin Otieno Arraigned for Attempted Murder in Kabarnet Court

Kabarnet – A police officer stands accused of attempted murder involving three individuals and has been brought before the Kabarnet court.

According to a new release by Kenya News Agency, Police Constable Edwin Otieno is alleged to have shot indiscriminately at two civilians and another police officer, causing serious injuries.

Investigating Officer Corporal Pius Odeke filed a miscellaneous application requesting more time for investigation, resulting in the court ordering 14-day detention for Otieno at the Kabarnet police station. The incident reportedly occurred on October 25 at Loruk trading center in Baringo North sub-county. The accused officer used a G3 rifle issued to him for official duties.

During the 14-day detention, Odeke said they plan to visit one of the victims, currently under treatment at Nakuru provincial hospital, and to conduct a ballistic analysis on the recovered firearm and spent cartridges. Odeke added that the two other victims are recovering at Baringo county referral hospital, and their medical conditions are yet to be determined. Magistrate Ateya approved the application for extended detention, asking for expedited investigations with the next court date set for November 9.
