Police Arrest Two Men for Unlicensed Firearms and Ammunition

CAPE TOWN – A proactive police operation in Cape Town resulted in the arrest of a 28-year-old man for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition on Friday, December 1, 2023.

According to South African Police Service, during routine crime prevention duties aimed at curbing robberies and gang violence, Woodstock police officers conducted a search in Lower Church Street, Woodstock. During the search, they discovered a firearm with ammunition in the possession of the suspect. The suspect is scheduled to appear in the Cape Town Magistrates’ Court on Monday, December 4, 2023.

In a related operation, members of the Harare Crime Prevention Unit executed a search at a premises in the Gushi Ndoda informal settlement in Kuyasa on Saturday, December 2, 2023. During the search, a 39-year-old man was arrested after police found an unlicensed firearm with ammunition in the house. He is expected to appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
